MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT!
Dear Fair Oaks Theatre Festival Friends and Family,
Well… the past year and a half have certainly been an “interesting” time for all of us. None of us—least of all me—ever thought we would be witness to the complete suspension of all live entertainment, coast-to-coast. As the world slowly returns to some sense of normalcy, The Fair Oaks Theatre Festival is poised to come roaring back, ready to entertain you—the best “Thank You for Your Support” that we can imagine!
Over the past 15 months, many small theatre companies and entertainment venues simply did not survive. And yet, we have! How? An incredibly loyal and resilient fan base made up of people like you; people who know how important live theatre is and did not abandon us when things shut down and the going really got tough!
It is extremely uplifting to know that despite uncertainty of what the future would hold, not only for FOTF but the world at large, over 100 of you chose to support us with your membership and your participation in our virtual St. Patrick’s Fundraiser Party and the Big Day of Giving. It’s a phrase often overused, but in this case 100% true: We wouldn’t be here without you!!!
Meanwhile, our technical personnel Jeff Karl and Mike Dixon have been readying the existing stage facilities at Veteran’s Memorial Amphitheatre for demolition so the building of our new theatre stagehouse can begin. Packing up 37 years of theatrical stuff, from lighting and sound equipment to props, scenery and costumes, has proved to be a daunting task, but one that “the boys” have handled with professionalism and enthusiasm. Thank you Jeff & Mike!!
Hopefully, demolition to make way for the new, state-of-the-art theatre facility will begin in earnest in late July. We will keep you posted as the project moves along. The construction of this amazing facility represents the capstone of a dream initiated by Bob Irvin & Tony Sestito so many years ago. My thanks to all of you who have stayed with and supported us throughout the years so that our dream of a world-class theatre complex in the heart of Fair Oaks could become a reality.
You are my heroes. So I say, “Thank you for the music…!”
FOTF Board President
THE FAIR OAKS THEATRE FESTIVAL IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE!
Tony Sestito and Robert Irvin’s dream to completely renovate the Veterans Memorial amphitheater will become a reality!
The Fair Oaks Park District recently voted to include the amphitheater stage house remodel in the Measure J project.
Our facility upgrades to date include the box office and outdoor garden lobby, our concession stand, merchandising area, patron restrooms, light and sound bridge, and control room. We are now beginning our final phase!
Until our new modernized Stage house is ready for use, we are discussing alternative performance venues. We are going to, "Make it Work."
Along with planning how to bring you theater over the next few years, it will be our job to prepare the existing buildings for demolition… Removing all lighting sound equipment and vacating our storage facilities. This will include costumes, sets, and prop storage units.
This is a very big project and we will need your help. We look forward to your continued support as our operating expenses will actually increase. Look for us during this year's Big Day of Giving!
We promise to keep you updated on the progress of our construction project and performances. We are beyond excited to welcome you to see our inaugural season as soon as we possibly can!
